NAFOL profile: Nina Fallingen

I have a bachelor’s and master’s degree in art and crafts education from Oslo and Akershus University College of Applied Sciences. I have also worked as a teacher in middle school for several years. During my studies, and while working as a teacher, I became aware of the importance and potential of the school subject, arts and crafts, in the work towards a sustainable future. My studies and experience have led me to become interested in relations between humans and non-human materials. More specifically, my focus is on how humans learn and are shaped in relations with materials, not merely how humans shape materials. By generating knowledge about such processes, we have the possibility to interact with materials and our world in new and hopefully more sustainable ways.
