I started working as an English teacher at the Department of Education at UiT, The Arctic University of Norway, Campus Alta, in 2010. Before that I taught in upper secondary school for many years, during which I completed a Master’s Degree in Education/Special Education on upper secondary school drop-out. I interviewed three students who had been close to dropping out of school, and learnt about the measures that helped them complete their three years in upper secondary school.
My PhD project is on the same topic, with a continued focus on pupils’ perspectives. The project will include interviews with pupils, as well as classroom observations where the focal point is on relations. The aim of the PhD project is to present new knowledge on what pupils experience as good measures to avoid drop-out from upper secondary education.
